Day 7, Calgary

We checked out of Mystic Springs and left Canmore early in the morning, heading for Calgary's Olympic park.

Olympic park

At the visitor center we bought tickets for the lift, which takes you to the top of the hill and to the ski jump tower. From the tower you can see young athletes practicing their jumps on skis. That's right, in the middle of summer!

Downtown and Calgary Tower

We then headed for downtown, parking a couple of blocks from the Calgary tower. We strolled around near the tower, in a pedestrian area near city hall, then went for lunch at the revolving restaurant at the top of the tower. The deal here is that if you go to the restaurant you can take the elevator for free so you do not pay admission. It is pricey but not overly so. Dishes are around $20/$25. Remember you get the admission free.

The food was great and the revolving aspect of the restaurant was very interesting, specially for the kids. A full turn is completed every 45 minutes or so. One little trick we did was place a tiny piece of paper by the window, and we picked it up 45 minutes later!

Prince Edward Park

After lunch we walked to Prince Edward park, again visiting Bow river, an old friend by now,  and then walked back to our car. Our GPS helped us get to a gas station to fill up and then return to the airport. Returning the car at Budget was a breeze.

We boarded the place at 6:45PM, arriving in Ottawa around midnight, local time.
