Day 6: Columbia Icefields Parkway, Moraine Lake, and Canmore

This was going to be a relatively long drive heading back to Canmore. Weather was very poor, so we did not stop anywhere until we reached the Columbia Icefields Center 9for the 2nd time). Again it provided a nice rest, a good espresso, washrooms. We also took the time to visit the Center itself, which has giant mockup of all the glaciers, a 3d bust of Sir Laurier and other attractions.

Moraine Lake: TOP 5 ATTRACTION

We took the exit to Moraine lake at Lake Luise. There was quite a promotion on the road which could only mean one thing: wild life. It was a black bear!

Another 25 minutes later or so, we reach Moraine Lake. To the left, you can climb up a small hill or rock pile for a great view. This is the most beautiful lake we have ever seen.

One of the most beautiful places on Earth

We had a snack right here, with stunning views. beware the thief: a squirrel literally stole of my sandwiches from my lunch box! It took the whole thing!

We also took the trail To the right of the lake, it;s another 30 minutes to the end near a waterfall, and provided further gorgeous views.

Castle Mountain

From Lake Luise we agaian took the old road to banff, stopping at castle Mountain.

Canmore

We arrived back in Canmore around 6PM, again staying at Mystic Springs. This time the room was booked through Expedia. it was cheaper at $146. We now know why the rooms are cheaper: they are the worst rooms of the hotel. However, this means only that they don't have nice views and that it had a CRT television instead of flat screen. Unless you really want a view to the mountains, it is not a big deal.
